When we encountered Penedo for the first time, we were immediately sent to a long tradition of architectural history, of projects that are built in an intimate relation with the topography and landscape of the place. But the desire of a perfect harmony with the place did not imply for us its dilution or metamorphosis. The house assumes its formal independence through a clear play of volumes, highlighted by a differentiation in the matter that composes them.
In the interior space’s point of view, the apparent abstraction of the unit’s formal elements is counterpoised by the sensoriality of the materials used, with a special focus on the wood that surrounds us in almost all the house’s spaces.
